Don't Toss Your Old Prescription Glasses, Well At Least Not In The Trash

Updated: Sep 12, 2019

From almost the onset of their origin, Lions Clubs have been championing sight and related causes. One key way is to recycle used prescription eyeglasses. The Dublin Lions just made it easier for you to contribute. At their building at 100 Lions Club Dr, across from Dublin Elementary and the Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, they now have a secure drop box. Club President Judy Alford feels this is a convenient way for members of the community to drop off their used eyeglasses. Access to the box is anytime.

Eyeglasses are collected and then taken to Roanoke, where one of the less than a dozen recycling centers nationwide exist. Upon arriving at the center, they are washed, tested and sorted. Once sorted, many worldwide humanitarian organizations take quantities of these glasses around the world for distribution to those in need.

The next time your doctor prescribes you new glasses, make sure to drop off you unneeded glasses at the Dublin Lions Club.
